She completed her clinical rotations in the United States and a three-year internal medicine residency at St. John’s Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (Texas medical license, 2015) and also by the American Board of Obesity Medicine and the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. After practicing at Texas Health Presbyterian in Dallas and Texas Presbyterian Hospital in Allen, she opened her own practice. Kimberly (Kimber) Schmidt is a dedicated family nurse practitioner with a passion for weight management, wellness, and preventative medicine. In addition to serving as a primary care provider, she also practices medical weight loss with RescueMD. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Stephen F. Austin State University, then moved to Dallas and began her career at Baylor Dallas, where she built an extensive background in neurology as well as heart and vascular procedures. She went on to earn her master’s in nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington and became a certified nurse practitioner before transitioning to a primary care role in Dallas. Kimber is driven to uncover the root causes of disease and stop it in its tracks, and she is also passionate about aesthetics and preventative skincare. Outside of work, she is a devoted wife and mother to two energetic toddlers, Milo and Luca, and enjoys traveling with her family, reading, and Peloton workouts. Based at our Allen facility, she serves patients from Frisco, McKinney, Plano, Dallas, and surrounding areas.
Ayesha Sajjad is a licensed Registered Dietitian with a strong background in clinical nutrition and chronic disease management, dedicated to helping patients achieve sustainable health through personalized, evidence-based nutrition care — the foundation of our registered dietitian services. She earned her master’s degree in nutrition from Texas Woman’s University and completed her clinical training at Children’s Health Plano and Baylor Scott & White Health, and is credentialed through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. At RescueMD, Ayesha specializes in weight management and nutrition therapy for chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, and also supports patients with gastrointestinal disorders — helping them understand the gut-heart connection and build realistic, long-term strategies for better health. Outside of work, she enjoys volunteering and spending time with her family.
Alex Guzman earned a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology (Pre-Physical Therapy track) and a master’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science, both from Texas Woman’s University. She discovered her passion for cardiac rehabilitation during an internship at Baylor Scott & White – The Heart Hospital in Plano, where interacting with more than 100 patients a day offered invaluable hands-on experience; watching patients progress and complete the program solidified her dedication to guiding people toward achievable health goals and a positive mindset. Blending science-based training with compassionate care, Alex focuses on a healthy mindset, goal setting, and long-term lifestyle strategies that help patients not only recover through cardiac rehabilitation but thrive well beyond it. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, and coaching club volleyball, and — with a background in pastry arts — creating culinary treats and exploring new coffee spots.
At Rehab by RescueMD, Alex designs and supervises exercise programs across our intensive, traditional, and PAD care, and leads our personal training. Learn about their role in cardiac rehab.
